We will:

• Make sure that our practices are relevant and fair to all age groups and that judgements about ability are based on talents, skills and experience, rather than on misconceptions and prejudice;
• Make sure decisions are not influenced by age;
• Act without prejudices or misconceptions based on age;
• Challenge inappropriate comments about someone's age;

We will not:

• Generalise or stereotype young people. We will treat every young person as an individual and acknowledge that young people are as diverse as anyone else;
• Assume that young people are always the problem, particularly when older people are involved. We will be fair to everyone;
• Assume that all young people's needs are the same;

• Use insulting or abusive language when referring to or talking with young people. This will only cause conflict.
