Our Priorities

We have identified five priorities that will help us meet our key objectives. A wide range of organisations from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors have pledged to take visible and meaningful action under at least one of the five priorities for achieve our aims.

Priority 1

Meeting and mixing - There should be more chances for communities and individuals in our city to get together, get to know each other better and work together more.

Priority 2

Anti oppression - Newcastle should be a place where people and groups are not oppressed, bullied or left out because of who they are. Whenever this does happen we will try to help and support them and try to stop it happening again.

Priority 3

Celebrating difference - People are different, these differences are good for our city and they should be respected. We want to live in a city where what people have in common is more important to everyone than what separates us.

Priority 4

Opportunities in life - Everyone should have the same opportunities in life regardless of who they are and where they come from.

Priority 5

Involvement in civic life - Newcastle is a better, happier place to live when people are involved in helping each other, and when they have a say in what happens in the city.
